Obituary for Don & Virginia (Graham) DeMark

Gravestone for Don & Virginia. They are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs.

I know I've already posted some information on Virginia Rose Graham, but I've felt that she deserves her own blog. Virginia was born May 24, 1917 in Buena Vista, Colorado to George Earl Graham and Ann Hazel Dodge. Virginia moved to Colorado Springs in 1926 and grew up there. She graduated Colorado Springs High School in 1934. After graduation, she first worked as a Beauty Operator. She also worked with her mother as an attendant at El Patio Lodge.

Virginia Married Donald D. DeMark November 15, 1939 in Pueblo, Colorado. Don was also from Colorado Springs, where he was born and raised. Don was born August 3, 1906 to Charles & Betty (Mutcelli) DeMark. His parents had immigrated from Italy in the early 1900's and lived their lived in Colorado Springs. In the 1940 Census, Don & Virginia were living on 527 E. Platte Ave. in Colorado Springs. They rented their home for $25 per month. Don had a 6th grade education and was an employer at a battery & auto electric store. He worked 65 hours a week and received wages other than from regular salary or income. Virginia had graduated high school and earned $140 in 1939, presumably working at the El Patio Lodge with her mother. Virginia was listed as a housekeeper.

Don worked as an atuo electrician and repairman. Virginia also worked with him as a bookkeeper for his business until he retired in the early 1960's. Don & Virginia later lived on 214 E. Del Norte in Colorado Springs. Don & Virginia passed away within days of each other in December of 1991. Virginia passed away December 23rd and Don passed away on New Year's Eve. They are both buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs. Don was survived by four siblings. Virginia was survived by three cousins. They did not have any children.
